SHORTLISTSTACK / EDITORIAL & TRUST
How We Review
Clear reasons, meaningful trade-offs and evidence readers can check.
Start with the job
Our editorial standard starts with the task a reader needs to complete, rather than a long list of products or a universal winner. We keep each shortlist focused enough to compare and act on.
What an assessment should cover
- The job it solves: the practical task and where the tool fits in a workflow.
- Who it is best for: the type of reader, workload and constraints it suits.
- Important strengths: capabilities that matter for that job.
- Meaningful drawbacks: limitations, complexity and reasons to pause.
- Pricing and value: the relevant plan, currency, billing period, limits and likely value for the intended use.
- Alternatives: other ways to do the work, including tools a reader already has.
- When to skip it: situations where no new subscription is needed.
Check facts before publication
Our editorial standard is to check pricing, features, availability and plan limits against current official sources before publication and provide relevant provider links so readers can verify important details.
Software information can change after publication. Readers should check important purchasing details directly with the provider.
Research is not hands-on testing
We distinguish research-based assessments from hands-on testing. We only claim hands-on testing when it has actually occurred, with its scope and limitations explained. Provider documentation and other publications do not establish our own testing experience.
How AI may assist
AI may assist with research, organisation and drafting. It is not a factual source or a substitute for editorial review. Our editorial standard requires generated claims to be checked against reliable evidence; AI output alone does not establish prices, statistics, testimonials, partnerships or testing experience.
Independence, updates and corrections
Commercial relationships must not decide whether a product is recommended or influence the stated strengths and drawbacks. Any active affiliate links must be disclosed clearly.
A “Last updated” or “Last reviewed” date records an update or review of the page, not a guarantee that a provider has made no changes since. Material changes or credible correction requests should prompt another check. Use Contact to identify the page, the disputed statement and a supporting official source.
